When we spent 2019 planning our exciting new venture, Parents on Leave™, we didn’t. When we launched in early 2020, we didn’t.
The Covid-19 global pandemic, was the one “what if?” we had not contemplated!
Launch we did and just a few weeks later, like most, we are facing a world we have never known and challenges we would never have imagined.
First and foremost, our thoughts are with all those affected during this difficult time.
The easiest thing for us to do would be to do the obvious . . . switch to online deployment of our Parents on Leave™ program. We have certainly thought about it.
From the outset, our unique offering has been anti-trend – the effectiveness of Parents on Leave™ is predicated on the power of an in-person dialogue. It’s all about the face-to-face conversation. We have no desire to de-value our Program by compromising this, because we know how significant this delivery method is to our participants’ experience.
So, we won’t take Parents on Leave™ online. We will instead hold the line, with patience and optimism, and wait until we come through this pandemic crisis, and then run our first programs when we can all experience the joy and value of meeting in person with others once again.
In the meantime, we are continuing to have discussions with clients and are focused and making preparations to welcome our first participants, when the right time comes. Please do continue to reach out to us and engage, and during this extended planning phase we are certainly available for calls, webinars and other on-line discussions about the Program. We will also curate and share articles and stories of impact and interest for those on parental leave, for line managers responsible for those on parental leave and for their employers. We trust these will add value, particularly in the current circumstances.
We will of course continue to mentor, coach and consult with those who value our input – and continue to provide our expert and accredited support to those in need of career advice.
And in 10 years’ time, every presentation we make will open with the words, “ten years ago, in early 2020, we launched our business on the cusp of a global pandemic – and here’s how far we’ve come”.
